8 Bits. 3 Dimensions.

I recently rediscovered POV-Ray on my hard drive, and haven’t seen productivity since. If you’re unaware, POV-Ray (project homepage) is an open-source script-based 3D raytracing program. If you have the time, patience, and skill, you can make anything. I’m no genius, but i love the possibilities. I used to be obsessed with vintage video game sprites, and to be honest, a little part of me goes nuts for anything pixelated and polyphonic. I decided to try modeling some Super Mario Brothers images. Here’s what I came up with so far. The image is a link to an animated flyby (SWF, 4.19 MB):

Look Ma, I'm in 3D!

The goal is to model a full level (SMB 1-1) eventually, but I am WAAAY too lazy right now. Adios!

It’s pretty impressive Matt. I wish I could do something like that, but alas, I lack that thing called skill. Good luck with the whole level.
